Our goal
Our goal is to build a lasting relationship with our customers. To accomplish this goal we will strive to offer the highest quality insurance products at fair and reasonable pricing. We will seek out only those insurance companies who provide professional service of the highest ethical standards to their insureds and agents. As your hometown insurance agency, Bartz/Rumery Agency, Inc. is dedicated to grow and give back to our community.
How it all began…
Joseph Bartz (father of Jan Morgan, one of the current agency owners, and pictured at lower left) went to work for George Wise in September of 1950 and in 1951 purchased the Wise Agency.
In February of 1967, the Bartz Agency purchased the oldest insurance agency in Allegan, known as the Updyke Agency (T.S. Updyke pictured top left) which was originally established in 1871.
The Rumery Agency was founded in 1912 by Sib Rumery – it was subsequently owned by Weldon Rumery (1945), Harry Tibbitts (1975) and current co-owner Phil Siegler (1985). The agency then merged with Bartz in 1989 making lifetime Allegan residents, Phil Siegler and Jan Morgan, the owners of the new Bartz/Rumery Agency and offering 50 years of combined experience.
In April of 2004, Bartz/Rumery purchased the Kyes Agency, formerly owned by John and Valerie Kyes.
In 2021 Jan started giving thought to retirement. She decided to retire fully as of September 30, 2022 after 52 years in the Agency.
Jan’s dedication to the customer and providing proper coverage has been her main goal throughout her career. Although she will be greatly missed, the staff at Bartz/Rumery are committed to carrying on the legacy of customer service, communication and attention to detail that marked Jan Morgan’s insurance career.
